This is a one year course consisting of 4 terms of 10 weeks.
On completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- take part in discussion in familiar contexts, concerning topics such as current issues, contemporary culture and society, etc
- explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options
- read articles and reports, and short novels
- understand modern Japanese films including the creator’s intention.

In Term 2 of Advanced Course, we aim to cover two topics of Part V 「科学技術と人間」of “Ryūgakusei no tame no jidai o yomitoku jokyū Nihongo : dokkai kara kaiwa, sakubun e“.

You will use all three textbooks of ‘MARUGOTO” series such as textbook for activities, textbook for comprehension and vocabulary book, which has recently been developed by the Japan Foundation specifically for adult learners of Japanese. This is a one term course (10 weeks) .
This is a course for absolute beginners of Japanese. In this course, you will learn simple, everyday conversation. You will use the textbook ‘MARUGOTO’, which has recently been developed by the Japan Foundation specifically for adult learners of Japanese. With this textbook, you can learn Japanese necessary for communication, and also develop your cultural understanding of Japan. This means that you can study language in connection with culture. Ultimately, this is a course suitable for people who are interested in Japan and who want to learn Japanese in an enjoyable way.
On completion, participants will be able to:
- give a simple self-introduction
- talk about their favourite foods
- order food and drinks at a hamburger shop
- write their name and country in Japanese
